Comparing Cognitive Functional Therapy (CFT), a new multilevel, patient-centered clinical form of therapy for chronic low back pain, with usual care, where it showed superior clinical outcomes in chronic low back patients. The paper aimed to show whether CFT is more valuable in terms of costs, effects and utilities compared to care as usual in the United Kingdom. An economic evaluation, including a cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analysis was performed.

The overall findings showed that CFT is a highly cost-effective intervention and an implementation in the United Kingdom is recommended. However, more in-depth research aiming to prove that CFT can be a best practice reference, and to define its application in official guidelines, was recommended.
